2016 Charitable Outreach Overview

Our commitment to service doesn’t stop with our customers. A.H. Harris encourages employees at every level of our organization to support the causes that matter to them and their families. We set the stage for charitable employee giving with our Matching Gift Programs — our way of showing employees that we are as invested as they are. A.H. Harris also offers unique paid time off incentives for team volunteer efforts. Last year alone, our community outreach programs helped benefit Autism Speaks, ALS Association, The Jimmy Fund and more.

Harris Cares “4-4-FOR” Initiative for employees
4 hours of PTO | $400 Match | For…a Charity of your Choice
We’re proud to introduce this new initiative. As a way for our associates to give back to their surrounding communities, we’ll ask each A.H. Harris Branch to select a charity that means something to their team. Each Associate will be given up to 4 hours of PTO to donate time to these charities. The time can be used for fundraising, running a race, volunteering time etc. A.H. Harris will match up to $400 of what each Branch raises for that charity.
The Harris Fund | An Employee Assistance Program Funded with Love
The death of a loved one. A sick child. A fire. An accident. The loss of your significant other’s income. For better or worse, life happens, and when the unexpected knocks us down, we need someone else to step in and help. The Harris Fund is that Someone Else.
The Harris Fund is an employee assistance program funded solely by contributions. It was created in 2008 as a support vehicle for Harris associates who find themselves facing financial hardship. The fund, which is a completely separate entity from A.H. Harris & Sons, Inc., is a fully licensed non-profit that is subject to state and federal law. It’s governed by a volunteer board of directors. An increasing number of employees contribute to the Harris Fund through regular, automatic payroll deductions.
Our gift of financial assistance provides a helping hand to our team members while preserving their dignity and their privacy. Much of our funding comes from vendor
partner contributions, auctions and gifts. This past year we have given out 12 grants, totaling a payout of $28,848. Out of currently 483 Harris employees, 129 (or 27%) have opted for contribution through payroll deductions. We’re proud that this number has been on the rise for the past few years.
