Please be advised that we have been notified by Titcomb Brothers, the manufacturers of Steel Dog Resi-Ties, that a product recall for ALL sizes of Resi-Ties with a manufactured date of July 12, 2016 up to Friday, October 14, 2016 has been issued. The safety of our customers is paramount. Please read the below notice carefully and do not hesitate to contact us. We apologize for this inconvenience.
Important Message from Titcomb Brothers (“Steel-Dog”) to All users of A.H. Harris/Steel Dog Resi-Ties, concerning Tie brittleness:
As the manufacturer of the TRUFORM 1-1/8” Form System, we’ve recently become aware that some batches of resi-ties produced by us between July 12th and October 13th, 2016 may contain a small number of ties that may fail in service at a load below their rated ultimate strength. These ties passed our internal tests, but may develop small cracks if bent during installation in the field, causing them to fail below the rated ultimate load. Although this issue appears to effect a small proportion of the ties from this period, we are recommending that any unused resi-ties in the affected lots be replaced. Thank you for using our products, and please accept our apologies for the inconvenience of this recall.
WHAT YOU SHOULD DO IF YOU PURCHASED RESI-TIES BETWEEN JULY AND OCTOBER 2016:
- Inspect ALL sizes of resi-ties to determine when the manufactured date was.
- There are lot numbers on each box and bundle, stamped below the size on the boxes. In addition these lot numbers are also on the back of the tag on the bundles (see pictures below). The first SIX digits of the lot number determine the Year, Month, and Day of Manufacture. For example, the picture of RT-10 lot # is 16101728. The date of manufacture is 16=Year, 10=Month, and 17=Day, October 17th, 2016. The final two numbers have no meaning when determining the date of manufacture. If the ties were produced AFTER July 12th, 2016 they need to be returned. Ties produced prior to July 12th, 2016 have been determined to have no issue.
- Once you have determined the sizes and quantities that need to be returned, please notify your local AH Harris Account Manager and/or AH Harris Branch and we will arrange for pick up and replacement. Titcomb Brothers began shipping replacement material to all AH Harris branches on October 17, 2016.
We strongly recommend that you adhere to the recall notice and have all impacted ties replaced immediately. If you would like an AH Harris representative on site, or if you should have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. We apologize for this inconvenience. You can also leave us a message below and we will get in touch with you.
