In mid October, a handful of A.H. Harris Associates and I had the pleasure to attend and man our booth during this year’s Tilt-Up Convention in the beautiful state of Colorado. This year’s event was held at the Denver Convention Center, one of the most well designed convention locations I have ever visited.
Attendance for the show was at an all time high. The combination of contractors, architects, engineers, vendors, and guest speakers from around the world, contributed to the success. We also witnessed a large rush from a local high school’s pre-engineering class. I was impressed with the questions they were asking about the tilt-up process.
Several of our Tilt-Up customers from the east coast made the trip; Ace/Avant, Alston Construction, Citadel Contractors, Goss Foundation, Lithko Contracting, Nielsen Builders, Precision Concrete, Conewago Enterprises., and Turner Brothers, NS Giles and more. Vendor partners included; Victory Bear, Stego, Thermomass, Meadow-Burke, Sylvan Products, MBW, Spec Formliners, Scott Systems, Nox-Crete, MAX USA, Loveday Lumber, Kodi Klip, Fitzgerald Formliner, Dayton Superior, CTS Cement, Adhesive Plus.
A.H. Harris and White Cap were the major supply companies to exhibit during the convention. Our booth had a continuous video highlighting projects we had swept clean by renting braces, supplying inserts, geotextiles, grouts, bond breakers and Harris 1500. At the end of the show, the flat screen TV that displayed the video was raffled off.
We manned our booth in shifts which allowed us to network with our customers & vendors and allowed us to attend seminars. After the show on Tuesday we all attended the Outdoor Tilt-Up Demo that highlighted new products focused for Tilt-Up construction. This demo event was held at a local supplier’s yard near the convention center. After the demo program was over we were the guests of Meadow-Burke/Thermomass who took two bus loads to Avery Brewery Company in Boulder. Avery sends out 50,000 kegs of beer per year, and now I know why. Their facility was spotless and housed in a Tilt-Up building. The buffet was outstanding and the beer was ice cold, thank you Meadow-Burke and Thermomass!
I would like to thank John Adams and Liza Wardwell for their work on the needs of the booth. We were represented by Joe Giere, Danny Dubinsky, Keith Varga, and a special thanks to Kim Corwin for making time in her schedule to join us.
One more word, if you have never been to Colorado I recommend you add it to your bucket list. I took an extra day and took a trip into the Rocky Mountains and to the music venue Red Rocks was a perfect ending to an outstanding week!
