C.H. Nickerson & Company is Connecticut’s preeminent environmental construction contractor. They have rehabilitated or constructed 200 of these facilities in the Northeast over the last 7 decades. They are currently completing 80 to 100 million in environmental construction work per year.
When their superintendent group began asking for a modular clamp system to use on these projects to augment their main system of many years of job built aluminum joist gangs to help handle the increasingly complex details they run into everyday they decided to look into Harris 1500 as well as others systems. Their account manager, Craig Steuernagel & FSD rep. Rob LeClerc had been quoting Harris 1500 on their jobs in the past and they decided to try it in 2015 on a simple straight baffle wall while finishing their New Haven Waste Water Treatment Plant expansion project. It went well and received good reviews which prompted them to let more of their Superintendents & carpenters try it so in 2016 Harris 1500 is being used on 3 of their projects:
- The Bristol WWTP Expansion Project
- The Hartford MDC Expansion Project
- The Farmington WWTP Expansion Project.
One of the major advantages over other systems is the existence of the 8×8 Giant panels and its only 4 ties. All the projects have performed well so far and they are currently in the process of final reviews for the purchase of the system for their fleet. This would be a major victory for A.H. Harris and a testament to the relationships that Craig Steuernagel has developed over the years & that brought us this opportunity due to his years of exemplary service & industry knowledge in the many years as their account manager.
The following people were instrumental as well:
FSD Technical Group Leader, Mark Bochenek – Performed Designs & Reviews of the structural integrity of formwork designs and drawings.
FSD Technician, Paul Consiglio – Designs and creates drawings for formwork solutions & adapted to the many ongoing changes in these projects.
FSD Sales Specialist, Rob LeClerc – Works on a daily basis with the contractor to stay on top of their projects and handles any issues that may arise.
