The 2016 Harris Summit and vendor expo was truly an exciting event. AH Harris celebrated its 100th year in business and many individuals and branches were recognized for their accomplishments and dedication for putting forth the efforts to help achieve this historic milestone.
At this year’s awards banquet, there was no bigger winner than the Harris Fund! Due to the generosity of Harris associates and vendor partners, the Harris Fund surpassed all its expectations in the amount of money raised during this event. The goal at this year’s summit was to not only eclipse the $7700 raised at last year’s banquet, but break through the $10,000 ceiling. Total donations for the 2016 celebration totaled $11,500! That is how you “Provide for the Pride”!
For those that may not know, The Harris Fund is registered with the IRS as a 501(c) (3) charitable organization. It is funded by Harris associates to assist Harris associates in the time of need. Founded in 2009, the Harris Fund has issued over 100 grants to associates that were facing difficult circumstances. In 2015 alone, 15 grants were issued totaling over $35,000. Along with the fund raising efforts at the Harris Summit, contributions come from one time donations, through bi-weekly payroll deductions, and various fund raising events throughout the year.
Special thanks to the Harris Fund volunteers, associates that made silent fund baskets, and our vendor partners that donated raffle prizes for making the 2016 Fund raiser such a huge success. Of course, thank you to those that donated via the silent auction, made one time donations, or contributed through a spirited game of “corn hole!”
A heartfelt “thank you” from the Harris Fund.
